Our take

Who this one is for

The Nocaster is the early 1951 Telecaster that left the factory with the Broadcaster name clipped off its decal, and this Time Machine model copies it closely: two-piece select ash with the offset seam, Aged Nocaster Blonde nitro, a black phenolic pickguard and a three-saddle bridge with brass saddles.

The 1951 "U" neck is one-piece rift sawn maple and fills the hand, on a 7.25" to 9.5" vintage compound radius with Jescar Vintage frets and a 1.625" nut. Two Custom Shop Hand-Wound '51 Nocaster pickups use the original wiring idea: position one is the bridge pickup with a blend knob to bring in the neck, position two is the neck alone with no tone control, and position three is the neck with a preset deep rhythm tone. There is no conventional tone knob.

Six aging levels are on offer: NOS, DLX Closet Classic, Journeyman Relic, Relic, Heavy Relic and Super Heavy Relic. For conventional three-way wiring and a little more output, look at the 1954 Telecaster.

The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
