A mid-fifties Precision Bass from before the split pickup appeared in 1957: one Custom Shop Hand-Wound '55 Precision Bass single-coil, a 2-saddle vintage-style bridge and stainless steel flatwound strings, on a two-piece select ash body with a 1-ply parchment pickguard. The Journeyman Relic finish shows a bass that has been looked after, with modest wear rather than heavy damage.
The one-piece quartersawn maple neck has a 1955 Soft "V" carve, a 1.70" nut and a 7.25" radius that feels round under the hand, with 20 Jescar Medium Vintage frets and a bone nut. Controls are master volume and master tone.
The 1955 Precision Bass DLX Closet Classic shares the neck and pickup with lighter aging, and the 1958 Precision Bass Relic moves to the split pickup. Finishes are Aged Black, Aged Vintage Blonde and Aged 2-Color Sunburst.
The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from bass to bass, so the one built for you will differ in the details.
