A 1960 Precision Bass with the lightest aging in the range. DLX Closet Classic means a finish with some checking and the gentle wear of a bass that spent most of its life in its case, so it reads vintage without the heavy distressing. Aged Nocaster Blonde over a 2-piece select alder body, with a quartersawn maple neck and a rosewood board.
The neck is the 1960 P Bass Oval "C", slimmer than the '50s V shapes, with a 1.75" nut, a 7.25" radius and Jescar Vintage frets. The pickup is a Custom Shop Hand-Wound '59-'62 Precision Bass Split Single-Coil on master volume and master tone, with a 4-saddle vintage-style bridge.
For the same year in heavier Relic aging, look at the 1960 Precision Bass Relic. The 1955 Precision Bass DLX Closet Classic gives the same light finish on the earlier single-coil design, and the 1965 Precision Bass DLX Closet Classic carries it into the mid '60s.
The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from bass to bass, so the one built for you will differ in the details.
