The 1963 Jazzmaster Relic is an early sixties offset with Relic aging: a 2-piece select alder body and quartersawn maple neck in nitrocellulose lacquer, worn the way a guitar wears after decades of regular playing.
The neck has a 1965 Strat "C" back and a 7.25" to 9.5" vintage compound radius, so it feels round near the nut and flattens out higher up where you bend. Twenty-one narrow tall frets sit on a 3A rosewood board. Two Custom Shop Hand-Wound Jazzmaster pickups run through the full vintage circuit: a 3-position toggle with master volume and tone for the lead side, and the slide switch that selects the rhythm circuit for the neck pickup. The RSD Jaguar/Jazzmaster bridge and pop-in arm handle the floating vibrato.
For the mid-sixties version with Fat '60s pickups and a straight 9.5" board, look at the 1966 Jazzmaster Relic. The 1967 Jazzmaster DLX Closet Classic is the lighter-aged take, and the Artisan Jazzmaster NOS has no aging at all.
Finishes are Aged Shell Pink, Aged Surf Green and Cimarron Red, all with a rosewood board.
The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.
