The 1963 Telecaster Relic is the early sixties Tele with a rosewood board: a 2-piece select alder body in Relic lacquer, a rift sawn maple neck with a '60s Oval "C" back, and a 3A rosewood fingerboard on a 9.5" radius with narrow tall frets. A 3-ply mint green pickguard completes the period look.
The pickups are paired on purpose. A Custom Shop Hand-Wound Original Blackguard Single-Coil Tele in the bridge, voiced after the early fifties Tele, and a Custom Shop Hand-Wound Twisted Single-Coil Tele in the neck. The 3-saddle strings-through-body bridge uses threaded steel barrel saddles, and the tone control is a Greasebucket circuit, which takes off highs without piling up bass as you roll it down.
For lighter aging in the same era, look at the 1961 Telecaster DLX Closet Classic. For heavier wear and a bound body, the 1960 Telecaster Custom Heavy Relic.
Finishes are Aged Lake Placid Blue, Fiesta Red and Aged Olympic White.
The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.
