The 1965 Jazz Bass Journeyman Relic is a mid-sixties Jazz Bass with light wear: checking, fading and a few nicks in the nitrocellulose lacquer over a 2-piece select alder body, with a 3-ply mint green pickguard.
The quartersawn maple neck has a 1960 Jazz Bass "U" profile, a rounder, fuller carve, on a 7.25" radius 3A rosewood board with 20 Jescar Medium Vintage frets and mother of pearl dots. Two Custom Shop Hand-Wound Vintage Jazz Bass pickups run through two volumes and a master tone, so you blend the pair rather than switch between them. A 4-saddle vintage-style bridge on a 34" scale.
For the year after, with heavy beveled Alnico V pickups, block inlays and a brown shell guard, see the 1966 Jazz Bass Journeyman Relic. The 1960 Journeyman Relic Jazz Bass is the earliest take at the same aging level, and the 1961 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic carries more wear.
Finishes are Faded Inca Silver, Faded Dakota Red and Faded Burgundy Mist Metallic.
The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from bass to bass, so the one built for you will differ in the details.
