The 1965 Precision Bass DLX Closet Classic is a mid-sixties P Bass with light aging: a 2-piece select alder body in nitrocellulose lacquer, a quartersawn maple neck, and a 4-ply brown shell pickguard. DLX Closet Classic looks like a bass that was played with care and kept in its case, with moderate finish checking and some hardware oxidation rather than worn-through finish.
The neck has a 1960 P Bass Oval "C" back and a 7.25" radius 3A rosewood board with 20 Jescar Vintage frets. One Custom Shop Hand-Wound '65-'70 Precision Bass pickup, master volume and tone, and a 4-saddle vintage-style bridge on a 34" scale. Simple by design.
For the following year with more wear and medium jumbo frets, look at the 1966 Precision Bass Journeyman Relic. The 1960 Precision Bass DLX Closet Classic is the same aging on the earlier P Bass.
Finishes are Super Aged Violin Burst, Blue Agave and Olympic White.
The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from bass to bass, so the one built for you will differ in the details.
