The 1966 Jazz Bass Journeyman Relic is a mid-sixties Jazz Bass with light wear in the nitrocellulose lacquer, a 2-piece select alder body, a 4-ply brown shell pickguard and white pearloid block inlays on a 3A rosewood board.
The quartersawn maple neck has a 1960 Jazz Bass "U" profile, a rounder, fuller carve, with a 1.5" bone nut, a 7.25" radius and 20 Jescar Vintage frets. The pickups are a pair of Custom Shop Hand-Wound '60s Jazz Bass Heavy Beveled Alnico V, run through two volumes and a master tone, so you blend the pair rather than switch. A 4-saddle vintage-style bridge on a 34" scale.
The 1965 Jazz Bass Journeyman Relic is the year before at the same aging, with dot inlays, a mint green guard and medium vintage frets. For more wear on an earlier Jazz Bass, look at the 1961 Jazz Bass Heavy Relic, and for no aging at all, the 1975 Jazz Bass NOS.
Finishes are Super Faded Firemist Silver, Tobacco Sunburst and Black.
The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from bass to bass, so the one built for you will differ in the details.
