Our take

Who this one is for

The 1969 Telecaster NOS recreates the late '60s Tele in as-new condition, with no aging to the finish or hardware. A two-piece select ash body with an offset seam, a one-piece quartersawn maple neck, and a pair of Custom Shop Hand-Wound '67 Single-Coil Tele pickups on a '67 Telecaster bridge with RSD saddles.

The '60s Oval "C" carve is a medium, rounded shape that sits easily in the hand. The 9.5" radius is flatter than the 7.25" of earlier Teles, so bends high on the neck are less likely to choke out, and the narrow tall (6105) frets give a little more height under the fingers for bends and vibrato. The nut is bone, 1.650" wide.

For an aged guitar from the same years, look at the 1968 Telecaster Closet Classic. The Vintage Custom '68 Telecaster NOS stays unaged but adds a compound radius board and the Pink Paisley and Blue Flower finishes.

It comes in Inca Silver, Natural and Target 3-Color Sunburst, all with a maple fingerboard.

The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
