Our take

Who this one is for

The Artisan Koa Dual P90 Strat has a chambered one-piece vintage Michigan mahogany body with a figured koa top, finished in Aged Natural lacquer. Two Custom Shop P90 pickups replace the usual three single-coils, on a three-way toggle with one volume and one tone. Chambering takes weight out of the body.

The 3A roasted flame maple neck has a 1960 Oval "C" carve and a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard on a 9.5" to 12" compound radius, with vintage clay dots and 21 Narrow Tall (6105) frets. The bridge is a 6-saddle hardtail with "Pat. Pend." saddles, so there is no tremolo to set up or keep in tune.

For the same P90 layout with a flame maple top and Relic aging, see the Artisan Dual P90 Flame Maple Top Strat Relic. The Artisan Maple Burl Dual P90 Telecaster is the Tele counterpart.

The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
