Danny Gatton built his reputation on a heavily modified '50s Telecaster, and this model follows it closely. Two pickups designed by Bill Lawrence, based on the specs of Gatton's own guitar, sit in a select ash body with a 1-ply white pickguard and a custom tone circuit.
The neck is a custom '50s "U", a full carve with a 9.5" radius maple board and 22 vintage-style frets, one more than a standard vintage Tele. Cubic zirconia side markers catch light on a dark stage. The three-saddle strings-through-body bridge uses compensated brass saddles, which improve intonation over plain vintage barrels, and the switch carries a barrel tip on a bent shaft.
Two finishes are offered: Honey Blonde and Frost Gold. For a straight '50s Tele with no modifications, compare the 1954 Telecaster.
The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.
