Our take

Who this one is for

This takes the Eric Clapton Signature Strat and puts it on a two-piece select ash body under a Journeyman Relic nitrocellulose finish, so the grain shows through and the guitar feels gigged from the start. Relic nickel and chrome hardware, an eggshell pickguard and knobs, and white pickup covers fit the aged look.

The playing details match Clapton's specs: a soft "V" neck in gloss nitro, a one-piece quartersawn maple neck with a 9.5" radius and 22 vintage-style frets, a bone nut, three Vintage Noiseless single-coils, a TBX tone control and an active mid boost of up to 25dB. The tremolo is blocked for steady tuning.

Two finishes are offered: Aged White Blonde and 2-Color Sunburst. For a new-condition version on an alder body in solid colours, compare the Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster.

The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
