Our take

Who this one is for

This model is based on session player Michael Landau's 1968 Stratocaster, with the large headstock of that period and the wear pattern of his original guitar. The select lightweight alder body has a relic nitrocellulose finish and a 3-ply mint green pickguard.

The maple neck has a custom "C" carve and a round-laminated rosewood board with a 7.25" radius and 21 narrow jumbo frets, which gives vintage roundness with a little more fret height for bends. Three Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coils run through a five-way blade, and the second tone knob covers the bridge pickup. The vibrato is a six-saddle American Vintage synchronized unit.

Two finishes are offered: Bleached 3-Color Sunburst and Black. For his earlier small headstock guitar in Fiesta Red over sunburst, compare the Michael Landau Signature 1963 Stratocaster.

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
