Flea's Jazz Bass recreates the Shell Pink '61 Jazz Bass a fan gave him, the bass he used to record the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadium and The Getaway and played with Atoms For Peace. Shell Pink is among the rarest of the classic custom colours, and the Roadworn Shell Pink nitrocellulose finish copies the faded shade and playing wear of his bass as it is today.
Two Pure Vintage '64 Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups run through stacked concentric controls, a volume and tone for each pickup, the way the earliest Jazz Basses were wired, so the two can be blended in any ratio. The "C" neck has a Road Worn back, a 1.5" nut and a 7.25" radius rosewood board with 20 vintage-style frets. A 4-ply tortoiseshell pickguard, aged white dots and a neck plate engraved with Flea's own artwork complete it.
For a later-'60s Jazz Bass with three knobs, compare the American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Bass.
