James Jamerson's 1962 Precision Bass sat under a large share of the Motown catalogue, and this model goes after that bass detail by detail. Alder body and maple neck in Heirloom nitrocellulose lacquer, a slab rosewood fingerboard with clay dots, a 7.25" radius, vintage tall frets and a neck carve taken from his '62.
A custom-voiced James Jamerson '62 split single-coil does the work through one volume and one tone. The pickup and bridge covers are fitted, and it comes strung with La Bella stainless flatwounds for the round, short note flats are known for. The bone nut is 1.70" wide.
It comes in 3-Tone Sunburst with a 4-ply tortoiseshell pickguard, a vintage-style brown case, a certificate of authenticity and a commemorative booklet. For a slab board P without the artist details, the American Vintage II 1960 Precision Bass is the comparison, and the American Vintage II 1954 Precision Bass goes back further, to 1954 with a maple fingerboard.
