Mike Dirnt's Precision Bass takes the original 1951 Precision styling, with the '51 Telecaster style headstock, and gives it a Road Worn White Blonde lacquer over an ash body. It adds a forearm contour the earliest basses lacked, and a side-mounted output jack.
The neck is a thick C, the kind that fills the hand, on a 9.5" radius with 20 medium jumbo frets. The pickup is a custom vintage '59 split single-coil through master volume and tone, and the HiMass bridge with chrome-plated zinc saddles is heavier than a bent-plate bridge for a solid anchor. A three-ply black pickguard, knurled flat-top knobs, '70s style open-gear tuners and a custom Mike Dirnt neck plate complete it.
White Blonde with a choice of maple (black dots) or rosewood (white dots) fingerboard, right-handed, with a hardshell case. For a punk-era P Bass with a slimmer neck, compare the Nate Mendel P Bass. For an early Precision built to factory spec, see the American Vintage II 1954 Precision Bass.
