The BE-OD is Friedman's BE-100 head in a single-channel overdrive pedal. Six knobs do the work: Volume, Gain, Tight, Bass, Treble and Presence. Low gain settings give you a light, slightly broken-up drive, and it goes a long way up from there. Having Tight on a knob rather than a switch means you can set exactly how much low end stays in.
It suits a player who wants the BE sound in front of a clean amp, or who already runs a Friedman and wants that voice on the board as well. It is true bypass, runs on anything from 9 to 18 volts DC with no battery, and Friedman builds it in the USA.
If you want two BE sounds, one for rhythm and one for lead, the BE-OD Deluxe uses this exact circuit as its first channel and adds a second, slightly lower-gain channel, plus Middle controls on both. Friedman's BE-100 Deluxe and BE-50 Deluxe heads are in the Catalogue too.
