The Smallbox pedal is Friedman's Smallbox amp as an overdrive, with the amp's six-knob layout: bass, mid, treble, presence, volume and gain. A two-position Gain Structure switch on the side changes its character. One setting is the high-gain sound; the other drops into a lower-gain mode that Friedman voiced after the Smallbox amp's Plexi channel.
So one pedal covers a dirty boost, a vintage Plexi crunch and a proper high-gain lead, and it works into a clean amp or on top of one that is already overdriven. True bypass, 9 to 18 volts DC with no battery, assembled in the USA.
Next to the Dirty Shirley pedal, the Smallbox has the gain structure switch where the Dirty Shirley has a Tight switch. Against the BE-OD, it has a Mid knob and the two-way gain structure, where the BE-OD has a Tight knob. The Smallbox head and combo are in the Catalogue if you want the amp itself.
