The 50s Burstbucker Underwound has everything the standard 50s Burstbucker has, with fewer windings on the bobbins. That brings clearly defined overtones and harmonics and a little less output, suited to the rhythm position. It keeps the Alnico 2 magnet, the asymmetrical coils and plain enamel wire, for the same sweet, vintage-style tone.
Gibson sells it singly as the rhythm partner to a standard 50s Burstbucker in the treble position. It's wax potted against microphonic feedback and has a braided two-conductor lead. For a brighter pair, look at the 60s Burstbucker and 60s Underwound.
