The 60s Burstbucker follows the same idea as the 50s: unbalanced coils, wound with plain enamel wire, after the uneven winds of the original Kalamazoo P.A.F.s. It swaps in an Alnico 5 magnet for a slightly brighter tone, airy and full clean, with slightly lifted highs when it's driven.
It's wax potted against microphonic feedback, so it stays free of squeal at stage volume and with gain, and has a braided two-conductor lead. Gibson sells it singly and pairs it with the 60s Burstbucker Underwound: this one in the treble position, the Underwound in the rhythm. For a sweeter, rounder voice, look at the 50s Burstbucker on Alnico 2.
