Why this one made the wall

The Advanced Jumbo is the guitar Gibson built in 1936 to answer the dreadnought, and the answer was rosewood, a 25.5" scale and a 16" body. It lasted four years in production and has been chased ever since, because that combination does something neither a J-45 nor a D-28 quite does: the scale length puts tension behind the notes and the rosewood gives them somewhere to go.

Rosewood back and sides with a thermally aged red spruce top, Heavy Aged. Single-ply binding top and back, which is the correct restraint for the model.

Mahogany neck in the Historic AJ profile at a 1.725" nut, 19 frets on rosewood with mother of pearl diamonds and arrows.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.

What if it is not right when it arrives?
