Tom Murphy painted this one himself. That is the distinction worth understanding before anything else about the guitar: Murphy Lab is a team aging a finished instrument under Murphy's direction, while a Murphy Painted piece is one he sprayed personally. They are not the same designation and they do not turn up in the same numbers.
Lemon Burst over a '58 Les Paul Standard. One-piece lightweight mahogany with a two-piece plain maple top, hide glue fit, no weight relief, and a dark Indian rosewood board that has enough colour in it to read almost black under the lacquer.
Eight pounds six ounces. For a '58 Standard with no weight relief that is a genuinely light one, and it is the number to know if you have played Les Pauls that fight you by the second set.
The neck is the Chunky C, and the hardware is correct for the year down to the no-wire ABR-1 and the butyrate gold top hats.
