A Les Paul Custom in Classic White, aged hard. The lacquer is checked right across the top and the back, there is real wear down to the wood at the edges and behind the controls, and the white has gone warm and uneven the way a white finish actually does rather than the way a new one looks.
What makes this one worth a second look is that it does not wear the Custom's usual dress. A Les Paul Custom is traditionally gold hardware and covered humbuckers. This one is nickel throughout, aged down to a dull grey, with the pickups left open so you can see the coils. Against a checked white body and a black guard it reads much more like a working guitar than a tuxedo, which is the point of specifying it this way.
Everything else is Custom as it should be: ebony board with pearl blocks, multi-ply binding round the body and the neck, Rhythm and Treble poker chip, four knobs, Tune-o-matic and a stop bar.
