The Hedgehog is a 50-watt, single-channel head in the hot-rodded American tradition, with a cascaded overdrive section, four voicings and an effects loop that runs in series or parallel. A pair of 5881s drives the power section.
Overdrive, two levels of Deep, Mid, Bright, the gain boost and the loop mode all sit on front-panel buttons, and each combination stores into a preset. Presets come back from the included 4-button footswitch or a third-party MIDI controller, so one channel covers a wide spread of clean and overdriven settings.
It is built in Lake Elsinore, California, with a mix of circuit board and point-to-point wiring, which keeps it dependable and easy to service. For three channels and 100 watts of EL34s with MIDI switching, look at the PT100 Signature Edition Head. Suhr voices the Hedgehog 2x12 Cabinet, loaded with Celestion G12-65s, to this head, and the Hedgehog 2x12 Vertical Cabinet is the upright version.
