Our take

Who this one is for

The PT100 Signature Edition is Pete Thorn's signature head from Suhr: 100 watts from four EL34s through a custom Plexi-style output transformer, six 12AX7s, three channels, MIDI switching and a 4-button programmable footswitch. It is dressed in black tolex with black knobs and a midnight anodized aluminium faceplate.

Channel 1, the green channel, is an American-voiced clean with a firm low end, plus a Crunch mode for medium-gain overdrive. Channels 2 and 3, blue and red, are the high-gain British side, descended from the Custom Audio Amplifiers high-gain circuit. A high-voltage MOSFET boost can be toggled on any channel, and each channel can be set to come up with the boost on or off.

The solid-state loop runs series or parallel; in parallel, your effects need to run 100% wet. Dual-layer circuit boards pair with hand-wired pots, jacks, switches and power tube sockets, assembled in Lake Elsinore, California, for life on the road. Suhr's published specs for the PF100 Signature Edition Head read the same in power, tubes and panel layout. For 15 watts, there is the PT15 Head. Suhr's PT100 2x12 Deep Cabinet carries Celestion Creambacks, and a PT100 4x12 Cabinet is in the range too.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
