The PT15 I.R. puts a reactive load and impulse responses inside a 15-watt, three-channel all-tube head. The reactive load lets it run safely with no speaker connected, and the balanced line out sends a DAW, PA or headphones a mic'ed cabinet sound. The tube path itself carries no digital circuitry; processing applies only to the I.R. output.
It comes with 16 impulse responses of Suhr cabinets, six of them blends made by Pete Thorn, and takes third-party IRs over USB. Each channel holds its own IR, so the cabinet changes when the channel does. A headphone output and a 1/8" Aux In turn it into a silent practice rig, and the line out can also run without an IR for processing in the DAW.
Power is a pair of 6V6GTs with five 12AX7s. The PT15 Head is the same tube circuit without the load, IRs or headphone output, for a player who will always run a cabinet. Of the two, this is the one we would choose for anyone who records or wants the option of a silent stage.
