Our take

Who this one is for

The Reactive Load stands in for the speaker cabinet. It presents an 8Ω load to a tube amp of up to 150 watts and sends a balanced or unbalanced line signal on to a recording interface, effects or a power amp, so the amp can run at full volume with no cabinet in the room.

The difference from a resistive load box is the impedance curve. A real speaker's impedance changes across the frequency range, and Suhr tuned this load to follow a speaker's behaviour, so the amp responds and feels as it does into a cabinet. It has no speaker emulation of its own: pair it with your impulse responses or speaker sim of choice. A Thru jack takes a real cabinet, and when one is connected the internal load is bypassed and the amp sees the cabinet.

The Reactive Load IR adds 16 built-in Suhr cabinet impulse responses captured by Celestion, with a headphone output and an aux input for practice.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
