Our take

Who this one is for

The Custom 24 Piezo puts an LR Baggs/PRS piezo system inside a Custom 24, so one solidbody carries both magnetic and acoustic sounds. Figured maple over mahogany, a Pattern Thin neck, 24 frets on a 25" scale, DMO pickups and Phase III Locking Tuners are all in place. The bridge is the Gen III Piezo version of PRS's patented tremolo.

The magnetic side works as on any Custom 24, with volume, tone and the 5-way blade. A 3-way selector chooses the DMOs, the piezo or both, and a blend knob sets the mix. PRS fits two output jacks, so the piezo can go to an acoustic amp or a DI at the board while the pickups feed your electric rig.

This is for the player who covers acoustic parts in a set without changing guitars. Compare it with the Custom 24, the same guitar without the piezo, and the Hollowbody II Piezo, which pairs the same LR Baggs/PRS system with a hollowbody and a stoptail. Our pick is Antique White Top (Natural Back), clean and easy to pick out on a dark stage.

There are two tops. Standard is PRS's figured maple, and the 10 Top is PRS's higher grade of figure, supplied with hybrid hardware.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
