The DGT (David Grissom Trem) is David Grissom's signature PRS, the result of more than 20 years of work with Paul Reed Smith. It's built on the McCarty platform, a 22-fret, 25" scale solidbody with a maple top and a mahogany back, with its own neck shape, taller frets, pickups and control layout.
The DGT neck is 27/32" deep at the first fret and 1 21/32" at the nut, slimmer and a hair narrower than the McCarty's Pattern neck. PRS Jumbo fret wire stands .055" tall. Each DGT humbucker has its own volume, and a push/pull master tone works the coil taps. PRS says Grissom and Paul spent a year comparing more than forty sets of pickups before settling on these. The bridge is the PRS Patented Tremolo, Gen II, with Phase III Locking Tuners.
It suits a player who wants McCarty roots with a vibrato and bigger frets. Set it beside the PRS DGT Semi-Hollow, which keeps the neck and electronics and adds a semi-hollow body with a single f-hole. Our pick is Gold Top, which suits the vintage voicing PRS chased in the pickups.
