Our take

Who this one is for

This is Myles Kennedy's first signature model. PRS points to his work in Alter Bridge, with Slash and the Conspirators and on his own records, and the guitar puts two Narrowfield MK pickups on a flat-top swamp ash body with a 22-fret maple neck, maple fretboard and 25.5" scale.

PRS voiced the Narrowfield MK to land between a humbucker and a single coil, starting from the Narrowfield's hum-free single-coil sound. The 5-way blade mixes humbucking and coil-split settings across both pickups, and the push/pull on the tone knob is a preset roll-off for the treble pickup, so pulling it trims the highs on that pickup. PRS Medium frets, a 10" radius and the Myles Kennedy neck shape (57/64" deep at the first fret) set the feel.

It suits a rock player drawn to the look of a vintage plate-bridge guitar. PRS built it to play as a rock guitar, though the shape and maple board will go to twang when asked. The NF 53 is the comparison: another Narrowfield guitar with a steel plate-style bridge, using Narrowfield DDs on a 3-way. Kennedy's "Geometric Owl" logo from his Ides of March solo release sits on the truss rod cover. Our pick is Hunter's Green, the finish we'd reach for first.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
