Our take

Who this one is for

The S2 McCarty 594 Thinline is an all-mahogany, thin-body version of the McCarty 594. It keeps the 24.594" scale, the bound rosewood board with Birds and the two 58/15 LT humbuckers, and moves the neck to PRS's Pattern Thin carve. The body and neck are both mahogany, with the asymmetric bevel on top and a high-gloss nitro finish.

Pattern Thin is 53/64" deep at the first fret, slimmer than the Pattern Vintage neck on the S2 McCarty 594, so the Thinline suits a player who wants the 594's scale and pickups with a quicker neck. Each humbucker has its own volume and push/pull tone for humbucker and single-coil sounds, and on this model the 3-way toggle sits beside the knobs instead of on the upper bout. The PRS Two-Piece bridge, Phase III Non-Locking Tuners and PRS Vintage Fret Wire carry over from the rest of the 594 family.

Compare it with the S2 McCarty 594 if you want the fuller Pattern Vintage neck and a maple top. The S2 McCarty 594 Thinline Satin is this guitar in satin nitro, with its own set of colours. Our pick is McCarty Tobacco Sunburst, the finish that carries the McCarty name and looks the part on an all-mahogany guitar.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
