Our take

Who this one is for

The S2 Mira 594 is the all-mahogany Mira on PRS's 594 scale. It has a solid mahogany body, a set mahogany neck with a Pattern Thin carve and bound rosewood board, 22 frets on a 24.594" scale, two 58/15 LT humbuckers and a PRS Stoptail with brass inserts.

The 24.594" scale is a little shorter than the 25" scale on most of the S2 line, which means slightly lower string tension at the same tuning. Fret wire is PRS Vintage at .110" wide and .050" tall, larger than the PRS Standard wire on the S2 Standards and Velas. Two mini toggles tap each pickup on its own, so with the 3-way toggle in the middle you can run humbucker and single-coil sounds in combinations a single tap can't reach.

The Mira suits players who like a slim neck, a stoptail and plenty of switching. The S2 McCarty 594 shares the scale and the 58/15 LT pickups but adds a maple top, a Pattern Vintage neck, two volumes and two push/pull tones. The S2 Mira 594 Satin is this guitar in a low-sheen finish.

Our pick is Vintage Cherry. The Standards and Velas don't offer it, and a cherry finish on mahogany is hard to argue with.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
