The Angel is Anderson's 24-fret guitar: a figured top of maple, koa or walnut over an alder or basswood back, with no pickguard. Anderson shaped the body with deeper cutaways and longer horns so the top of the neck is easy to reach, and sculpted the front and back for comfort. Two full octaves on the high E string give you more upper range than a 22-fret guitar.
There are no pickup rings. Anderson says this lets the neck pickup sit nearer the 24th-fret harmonic, which they credit for the neck tone. The standard scale is 25-1/2". The 24-3/4" version, which Anderson calls the Li'l Angel, has slightly lower string tension.
Anderson describes the Angel as a Drop Top with a four-octave range, which is a fair way to place it. For the same body with a pickguard, look at the Guardian Angel. For an all-tonewood body with no top, look at the Angel Player.
The guitar in the photo is one customer's build in Tobacco Surf, shown as an example. Every Anderson is built to order: after you order, we go through the build with you, from the woods and finish to the neck shape, frets, pickups and hardware.
