The Classic is Anderson's vintage-style S double cutaway: an alder or basswood body under a pickguard, on a 25-1/2" or 24-3/4" Shorty scale, with a vintage tremolo or a fixed bridge. It is the S-family model for players who want the traditional look with Anderson's neck, stainless frets and switching.
The wood choice shapes the voice, by Anderson's account. They describe alder as the popular pick, with fuller low mids and upper mids that bring single coils forward in a mix, and basswood as the wood behind the 80s humbucker sound on a 25-1/2" scale.
For the same body without a pickguard, look at the Pro Am. For a figured top with a pickguard, the Drop Top Classic. The Icon Classic goes further toward vintage, with three knobs on the pickguard and a top-mounted jack.
The guitar in the photo is one customer's build in Mellow Yellow, shown as an example. Every Anderson is built to order: after you order, we go through the build with you, from the woods and finish to the neck shape, frets, pickups and hardware.
