The Bobcat is Anderson's single-cut: a carved top of flame maple or mahogany on a mahogany back, a mahogany neck, a 24-3/4" scale, and a Tune-o-matic with a stop tailpiece as one of three no-charge bridge choices. The 3-a-side headstock gives the strings a nearly straight pull, which Anderson credits for tuning stability and a stronger joint between neck and headstock.
Anderson borrowed the lower horn from the Raven: shorter and cut deeper, so the top frets are easier to reach and the guitar sits steady on the leg. The back edge is rounded all the way round, and the bridge, tailpiece and pickup rings are countersunk to bring the picking hand closer to the strings. Anderson also selects the mahogany to keep the weight down.
For the same single-cut on a mahogany slab with no carved top, look at the Bobcat Special. For a Floyd Rose, the Bobcat Locker. For one bridge pickup, the Bobcat Cub.
The guitar in the photo is one customer's build in Burnished Orange Burst, shown as an example. Every Anderson is built to order: after you order, we go through the build with you, from the woods and finish to the neck shape, frets, pickups and hardware.
