The Bobcat Cub is the one-pickup Bobcat Special: a mahogany single-cut body, a mahogany neck, a 24-3/4" scale and a single bridge pickup from Anderson Pickupworks. The bridge and tailpiece mount on top of the body, which Anderson says gives a gentler string angle over the saddles than a string-through design.
Anderson is open about the one-pickup debate. Some players hold that less magnetic pull on the strings means more sustain, and Anderson leaves that to your own testing. Others prefer a guitar with one pickup.
The Cub suits a player who lives on the bridge position. For two pickups on the same mahogany body, look at the Bobcat Special. For a carved maple top, the Bobcat. For a Floyd Rose, the Bobcat Locker.
The guitar in the photo is one customer's build in Metallic Ice Blue, shown as an example. Every Anderson is built to order: after you order, we go through the build with you, from the woods and finish to the neck shape, frets, pickups and hardware.
