The Cobra S puts the Cobra build on Anderson's S body: a figured maple top over mahogany, a mahogany neck with a rosewood board, and the 24-3/4" scale every Cobra shares. Anderson added it in 1996, four years after the Cobra T. There is no pickguard, so the top shows from horn to tail.
The shorter scale puts slightly less tension on the strings than 25-1/2", which makes bends and wide stretches a little easier. Anderson credits the mahogany body and neck for the Cobra's strong midrange. Both bridge choices, vintage tremolo or fixed, are string-through designs.
For the same build on a T body, look at the Cobra T. For an S with an alder or basswood back and a maple neck, look at the Drop Top.
The guitar in the photo is one customer's build in 3-Color Teardrop Burst, shown as an example. Every Anderson is built to order: after you order, we go through the build with you, from the woods and finish to the neck shape, frets, pickups and hardware.
