The Dire Wolfhound keeps the beveled-edge Wolfhound outline and changes what goes under it. The body is regular thickness and the neck angle is flat, which lets it take a vintage tremolo, a fixed bridge, a recessed Baby Floyd, or a locking Floyd Rose with a locking nut. The locking Floyd holds tuning under heavy bar use.
It also adds a second scale. The Wolfhound is 24-3/4"; the Dire Wolfhound comes in that or 25-1/2", the longer scale carrying a little more string tension. Anderson notes the extra body depth leaves room for push/pull pots and expanded 5-way switching, and the neck pickup sits at the 24th harmonic.
For the original thinner Wolfhound in mahogany, look at the Wolfhound. For other body woods on that design, look at the Wolfhound Mutt.
The guitar in the photo is one customer's build in Organic Grain Butterscotch with Brown, shown as an example. Every Anderson is built to order: after you order, we go through the build with you, from the woods and finish to the neck shape, frets, pickups and hardware.
