The Pro Am is the S-family double cutaway Anderson points to as the model that got the company going in the mid 1980s. It is an all-tonewood body in alder or basswood with no pickguard, so the pickups sit straight in the wood and the finish runs edge to edge. Scale is the traditional 25-1/2" or the 24-3/4" Shorty, which carries slightly lower string tension.
We think of it as the Anderson for a player who wants an uncluttered S body that can lean single coil or humbucker depending on the pickups chosen. Anderson ties basswood to the 80s humbucker sound and calls alder the most popular choice.
For the same body with a pickguard, look at The Classic. For a figured top bent over the body, the Drop Top. The Baritom Pro Am takes this body to a 28-5/8" baritone scale.
The guitar in the photo is one customer's build in Voodoo Blue, shown as an example. Every Anderson is built to order: after you order, we go through the build with you, from the woods and finish to the neck shape, frets, pickups and hardware.
