The Raven Superbird is the pickguard-free Raven on mahogany. The offset body is mahogany or a mahogany-like wood, the neck back is mahogany, and the scale is fixed at 24-3/4". With no pickguard, the body carries the finish all the way across and the pickups mount into the wood.
Anderson builds the Superbird as a more aggressive Raven. By their account, the short scale and mahogany neck lean the guitar toward the midrange and make reaches a little easier. The 24-3/4" scale also sits at slightly lower string tension than 25-1/2". It is the Raven we would point to for a player who wants that mid-heavy voice in the cleanest-looking version of the shape.
For the same build with a pickguard, look at the Raven Superbird Classic. For alder or basswood and a choice of scale, the Raven. The Wolfhound is the other mahogany, 24-3/4" body in the catalogue, with a beveled edge and a Tune-o-matic.
The guitar in the photo is one customer's build in Black over Firemist Gold In-Distress, shown as an example. Every Anderson is built to order: after you order, we go through the build with you, from the woods and finish to the neck shape, frets, pickups and hardware.
